Languedoc crossed by Hérault river

In Languedoc, as everywhere, water has always been important. Pézenas is located very close to Hérault river. In this plain, the city has developped a great reputation during 16th and 17th century thanks to Royal fairs. Behind Montagnac village, l’Abbaye de Valmagne is a superb example of Cistercian architechture. Along the Hérault we recommend you to spend time in Saint Guilhem le désert, around the Salagou lake, and Mourèze circus, Villeneuvette (former clothes factory under napoléon), and le Canal du Midi.
